Telson 3D UMPC

Posted by: Chippy

telsonYes, the ultra-mobile PC sector can be ultra-flippin’ niche at times. Here’s a gaming-focused UMPC that includes a 3D screen!

It appears to be a proof-of-concept by a company called Masterimage who have developed a 3D screen that can be used without glasses. [ref] Apart from that its fairly basic UMPC-territory with a 4.3″ 800×480 screen, 512MB RAM and a 30 or 60GB hard drive running XP on a VIA C7-M at 1.2Ghz. Apparently the joystick feels quite good although the screen looks like one of those ‘3D’ postcards.

I’m not feeling the vibe with this one. Maybe you have to be there to appreciate it!

Thanks for sending this in Steve.

  2. Not into video games, but why not put a cooler Atom in it and a smaller 12gb(or more) ssd drive to save battery. They’re supposed to be cheap. Raon has one so why not for this and maybe add a sd slot. Otherwise this will go into the PMP and future MID landfills outside Beijing(you know, the one’s we pretend don’t exist). :)

  3. After 10 minutes(Taipei Time) at 14:00, VIA will have a news conference about the cooperation with nVidia.

Rumors said it will be CPU IP buyout? Let’s wait and see.

  4. I’m quite interested on gaming umpcs, but I don’t see this performing any better than Wibrain. There’s a market there if they can hit sub $400 and 5-6 battery life, but the technology isn’t still there.

  5. OH MY GOD. If it is true that there is an “nVidia hand” in this device, we can be witnessing A HUGE leap in handheld gaming.

NB - You had me at “3D screen”.

Developing games for a device this powerful could be of unprecedented graphical proportions in a handheld.

Look like very similar to the figure that EEEPCNEWS.de posted.
