I read a user review that this mini 1000 has a fan that runs almost all the time and while not ridiculously loud, it is noticeable, plus the unit still gets hot. That sucks big time as the whole point of these netbooks with SSDs are to make them run silent. Dell's mini is fanless, by comparison.

I can't find a report that mentions anything about fan noise (an important issue with other netbooks). I just want to make sure it's silent before I spend money on this one (I had a terrible experience with other devices).

The Mini 1000 is an amazing machine, the 2133 had much more glaring flaws!

Although the 1000 does have its drawbacks, namely the inability to output VGA without an adaptor and the sub-par 3-cell battery. Also I guess some don't like the straddled buttons on the trackpad.

Hey Hanzo, one quick correction: We have a few different authors on this site, though Chippy is certainly the top poster. If you read the by line of the article you will see that this post was written by myself, Ben. Nice to meet you : )

As for the Mini-Note 2133, if you look back in our history, there was actually a decent amount of 2133 coverage when it was a hot topic. Of course that was a little while ago, and now the Mini 1000 is making waves in this area so we are making sure to cover it.

Chippy, I was wondering why there are so many reports of HP Mini 1001 here, but not much reports about HP Mini 2133 before? I've seen your post that you did not like 2133's battery life, but that's all.
