WiBrain. It looks like they’ve gone under. (Update: Site is back now)

Posted on 15 December 2008 by Chippy

Update: The WiBrain site is back. (Thanks jANjALANi.) Maybe we shook them up a bit because I now have some news about the i1. Coming later…

After delays on the WiBrain i1 and the disappearance of our usual contact-point within WiBrain, I was a bit suspicious that something was going on. Mobilx don’t have the original B1 models on offer any more and now it seems like the whole WiBrain website has been taken away.

Fingers crossed that this is just a short-term problem and that we’ll see the i1 soon. In the meantime, we’ll try and find out what’s happening.

I still think they canceled the i1 because of its disliked design and the fact that the m1 is ready to be sold soon.At least I hope so,wouldn’t want to see them leaving the market.

It’s weird, I think B1 was a very sucessful umpc for its time so I don’t know what could be wrong, we hope for the best, I’m still using my B1 daily so I hope this isn’t a good bye to them.

Awesome news. Now gives us more umpc goodness.

Thanks Holly for the healthy status update in Korea for the Wibrain, which gives me hopes for both the company and that they stand for the umpc concept after all, so maybe they’ll keep away from the netbook concept that I dislike so much but seems so prevalent

I really hop that the i1 is going to be available soon. I`ve been waiting for this device since August. I really love my B1 and the form factor. Just a little bit more power and it would be perfet!

    Update:
An i1 is in the post to me.

This is no confirmation that the device is being further developed or that it will be launched but at least we’ll be able to highlight it, analyse it, get a response from the readers and have it all out in the open so that Wibrain and their parent company can try to analyse the potential market.

The Wibrain B1 appeared to be a reasonable seller and if the i1 inmproves on it and keeps the value pricing model there’s no reason to believe that it won’t sell well globally.

Expect formal announcement of live session (of course!) later today.

    Steve.
