HP 2133 appears with Atom as Mini 2140.

Posted on 06 January 2009 by

I’m sure this has answered a few prayers. The original 2133 will soon be available as the 2140 with Atom rather than the VIA C7. We were talking about this on podcast 23. Note that it has the original alu chassis and bigger, hi-res screen options.

Oh – per the article the CES demo will be done with:

“i.MX515-powered netbook with Wi-Fi wireless networking made by Pegatron, a spinoff of Asus”.

So – Asus is covering it’s bases well here having a foot in the Intel camp, and having another spinoff with their foot in the ARM camp. With ASUS already in every box store with their AspireOne then will this ARM unit also find it’s way onto the same shelf space?

Do you think that the “glossy problem” will be fixed?

i´ve been holding out for this baby ( and my first netbook purchase! ) for the last 6 months! but is it too little, too late? ( i´d have prefered the nano, and a trackpoint would be perfect ). with so many other exciting things developing in the netbook market atm i still cant make a final decision. what happened to the sony p being released yesturday? im pretty excited about that too. not that it matters, with dual core, touch screen, nvidia ion, ati neo and more on the horizon, i dont think i´l ever actually buy a netbook – i dont have any need for one whatsoever but i just <3 them so much!! :(

Chippy, just a note. Had to set up one of these fellas for a family friend. Very nice machine but two gripes.

First the left and right side clicks are annoying. After being used to buttons being on the bottom of the trackpad i kept forgetting i had to click on the side to select something.

Second the machine’s wireless antenna seemed weak. I was getting between two and three bars when the other two laptops the family had out in the living room were getting full strength.

    Stay mobile!
