Tried to make a usb bootable drive out of the Moblin live distribution today. That seems ok, but my Acer Aspire One fails to boot. Not sure what is causing this, but the usb-drive does not seem to be bootable.

Netbooks are a good thing – they’re how I like my casual use laptops. On the other hand they are so good they are TOO popular, stealing attention and software developer time as a result. I want a MID too!

We have another topic today about units of Netbooks to be delivered. Do we have any idea of how many units or % of these Netbooks have been delivered with Linux? Obviously not all who bought it with Linux kept Linux but I believe the Linux -> Other OS converters are a small % next to the number of sales.

I’m just a bit curious as to how big it might be, personally though I appreciate the Linux safety and reliability benefits, I just can’t work with it’s UI and lack of support for sw I need on my full OS devices.

The first thing I did after reading this post was to do a google search for “moblin menlow”. Google says there are about 20,200 results for that search.

Listing GMA-500 support under “known issues” suggests to me that they’re working on it, not that they’re purposefully ignoring it.
