so i wont be doing much in the way of news news. Tomorrow ill be traveling to Hamburg so should have time to do some high speed posts on the train. Things will also be a little quiet while i cover mbc09 but ill try and post relevant stuff here. It will be interesting to see if the microblogging community is interested in MIDs.

Of course, as MidMoves slows down after the weekend ill have time to get some nice new content out about the OQO.

Sorry for the slowdown but its neccesary for MidMoves.

I for one welcome our new touchscreen overlords.

Up until recently, smaller screens on netbooks were on the way out. Almost everyone seems to be moving towards 10″ screens as a default size. But Asus looks set to slow that trend, since in tablet mode it will likely be an advantage to be slightly smaller and lighter (since the tablet will likely be held in the hand) rather than placed on a table.

I predict that, a year from now, most major manufacturers will have introduced a netvertible to try to catch up to Asus who will once again be in the lead.

At first, I thought it was demonstrating a very good protoype livened up a little with some video editing. Now I think it’s completely CGI and video editing. That is, it doesn’t exist in any way remotely close to what is shown.

who said Steve would not be working like hell! there’s more interesting thing than a promo ad about an interface that won’t be available anyway the way it’s showed. how many times you saw those videos and then they were actually available like that! companies need to make people aware of things that are great or do you think that this new EEE tablet pc would be interesting showing the same windows XP desktop? come on guys, nobody said something about the work of Steve or others, just not interesting to see these videos that can be seen elsewhere and are just “some news”.

I doubt that this is what the final interface will look like. I would imagine that this is a concept that they created so that their software engineers has a vision to work toward. Even is this is what the final product will look like, it doesn’t seem very streamlined. I really can’t put my faith in a whole suite of proprietary apps, I have had nothing but bad experiences with software that they include on their computer in the past. So in the end, it might look nice, but how productive can you really be with it?

As for the site level ‘fading’ you kind of caught us at a bad time here. Chippy is almost working double time, he is doing a tour with the MidMoves.com site, but it still managing to do some posts here. I’m on vacation myself for the week, but in doing an accessory review for you guys, so it isn’t all play : P. I’m typing this from my iPhone while I give my back a rest and enjoy a hot chocolate; back on the slopes shortly. And thanks to Kornel for keeping the content coming here on UMPCPortal!

That was beautiful! There should be a law that says you cannot demo things that are that nice and not available yet!

In response to the two sourpusses(deriuqer and fab), this is about touchscreen interface evolution which will benefit all of us if other manufacturers take note, okay?

Hmmm, I hope it’s more workable then in the video. Just look at the calculator and paper at the end, they are huge! I want to be able to use multible aplications at once. In the few situations where you’ll need to go to tablet mode and use a calculator other aplications are required aswell. It just seems too much, too much eye candy, too much in your face equipment.
