I'm skeptical about the Pegatron's claims of 8 hour battery life with a low-capacity 3-cell battery. Even with the reduced power requirements of the ARM SoC, we all know the main source of power drain in an Atom-based netbook will be the screen and the 3G and/or WiFi radio.

I think JKK made an important point that if he used his ARM-based netbook with the radio on, presumably accessing the net and watching videos, the battery life isn't particularly great either.

My ARM-based phone could last several days on standby but if I use it continuously in "MID-mode", watching videos, checking emails and surfing the internet, it will die in a matter of hours.

OK it seems Adam updated his post:

"EDIT

Sorry for the mistake. the 2+ can take an 8mm form factor 1.8" drive.

« Last Edit: January 14, 2009, 07:36:40 PM by adamg »

From have stated before that:

I don't believe anything other then the 5mm form factor will work. 3mm might as well be a kilometer in the OQO...

I just recall being down this road before when it came to OQO drives including contacting Toshiba at the time about larger drives.

I just remembered that I believe it was one of the Sony reps at the Sony booth at CES who was specifically assigned to the Vaio P who indicated that "No XP, ONLY Vista" and claimed there will not be any XP support or even possibility to run XP, just remembered this not sure how valid that statment is?

So does £300.00 or $440 or so change your mind about the Sony VAIO P???

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001PO5UH8/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

It could really become tempting if it starts to compete with the Netbooks like that in price!!!
