BenQ MID running XP and Wimax

Posted on 02 June 2009 by Chippy

I’ve started at the quiet end of Computex today which is probably a good thing to do when it’s your first time. I’ll move the main hall tomorrow because later today we’ve got the Intel Keynote and Mobility presentation.

One thing I did check out though was the Intel WiMax stand where there were a range of devices. The Viliv S5, X70 and S7 were there along with the Benq MID that’s available in Italy. I had heard that XP was working on it but I hadn’t seen it in the flesh until now.

The Benq MID highlights how low the pricing in the early MID segment has gone because you can pick this up for under 300 Euros in Italy. With an 800×480 touchscreen and XP I’m thinking it makes quite a flexible video, feed reader, web and navigation device. Oh BTW, for 300 you get 3G built in!

No word on availability but one assumes that you’ could see this cropping up with Wimax carriers across the world.

Did you get a hands-on the Viliv X70?
