Via Intel, press images of the new MIDs. Click to see the full-sized versions.

First the exciting (because it’s clearly coming to market soon) Compal KAX-15 based on Menlow. More about that in a following post.

Then we have four Morestown-based devices. The Aava Mobile MID first. It’s got a 4” screen and is called a ‘smartphone.” Yes, it’s cellular voice capable.

Next up, the EB MID reference design. This is really just a demonstrator but it has a 4” screen with hatic feedback. Aimed at media consumption.

The next one below is the Inventex X3. It has a 5” screen and is ‘navigation focused.’

Finally, the Quanta M1. This appears to be in a very late stage of development and indicative of how close the first devices may be. Q4 perhaps?

Damn, I’d like one of those cellphones running Windows and the base OS with dual boot. :D

The designs are still weak to me. Full Windows requires a touch type keyboard to be useful. A slider is not very useful. Just look what happened to Flipstart and OQO. What they should do is copy the old Psion 5mx design, stuff windows in it and then they would finally have a computer people would want to buy.
