If you’re following the netbook scene closely you might have seen that an EeePC roadmap has been leaked (full info at the eeeuser forum) showing a range of 1005HA devices and an 1101HA. Minimum screen size – 10” No 8.9” love. No lightweight love. Now I know that Eee’s are aimed at the mass market but you’d think that there would at least be a thin-and-light device based on a [...]

The good news is that my local online Nokia shop is now offering the N900 for pre-order with an estimated availability of 1st October. The bad news is that Nokia’s 500 Euro price estimate was a pre-tax price. In Germany it means we’re now looking at a 20% price hike to 599 Euro, something that many of us are now going to think twice about. 600 Euro puts it at [...]

Entertainment, Location, Communication and Productivity along with the highest quality internet experience possible on fast hardware and a focused operating system, in the pocket. That’s what Intel is aiming at with their MIDs and that’s pretty much what Nokia, with the help of Texas Instruments, have just launched with their Maemo-based N900. It’s clear that the high-end, consumer and web-focused MIDPhone market will have more than one player and there’s [...]

Engadget have just posted an article on this rather interesting MID / Carrypad-like device that should challenge the UMID that Ben is currently testing. The Sharp Netwalker PCZ1

It seems like Steve has had his hands all over the early white UMID M1 [Portal page], but I happen to have just received the official matte black UMID M1, courtesy of Dynamism, with twice the storage space (and a production model at that), oh and a nice case that Dynamism is offering with orders that even Steve didn’t get to check out! Let’s quickly review the important specs of [...]

The Nokia Booklet is really just another netbook but there’s a few things that make it worth analysing. The brand, the battery life claims and the ‘HD’ element. We’ve just had some confirmation about the specs and now we have enough to go on in order to analyse the Booklet and highlight some important aspects. The specification update comes via All About Symbian the well-connected UK-based lads who are confirming [...]

Talking about MIDPhones, here’s an update on one that’s been knocking around in bitmap form for quite a while now. It’s the dual-CPU, dual-OS MIU HDPC. (Hybrid Dual Portable Computer.) Rather than going for the all-in-one OS like Moblin is, MIU have basically stuck a phone on top of a 4.8” Windows XP UMPC although to give them credit, it does look a little more attractive than it sounds. [...]

Apologize for not being able to bring you an in-depth article about the Sony Vaio W. I actually just checked it out for a few minutes when I saw it in Best Buy. I was pretty impressed with the netbook section at this particular store. There was the Sony Vaio W, the Asus Eee 1005HA, and the HP Mini 1000, among others. Up until then I hadn’t seen much of [...]

He’s put some words and pics up via Twitter already but we’ve been in touch and he’s been kind enough to share some of his initial thoughts about the device. Steve owns a range of mobile devices so he knows what he’s looking for in a product. [All photos from SteveNYC] To cut straight to the chase, [...]
