Seated and ready to go.

0900 Started. Preamble. Dadi Perlmutter coming on stage now.

Warming-up by talking about the definition of cool. Today’s keynote will cover a lot of ground. I’ll be covering the ultra mobile and MID news from the keynote.

0930: Laptop technology being highlighted at the moment. Expecting ultra mobile, mid information at about 0945.

0935: Highlighting the effect of SSD of performance with a boot-up race.

0940: Overview of the handheld-focused products and ‘power gating’ ; the process of turning off parts of the silicon circuits.

Overview continues highlighting the advantages of processing power and compatibility.

Dadi keynote over. No major announcements included in terms of ultra mobile computing or MID news. Next up, software. Expecting Moblin 2.1 and Atom Development Program info.

Rene James now on stage….

Interesting slide being shown about the growth rate in embedded computing markets. Digital signage, security and in-vehicle markets growing rapidly.

10:10 Rene still talking about developer software tools for embedded and graphics.

10:25 Warming up to ‘snack and go’, ‘non pc’ Atom experience. Moblin.

17 distributers for Mobin

Mark Shuttleworth (Ubuntu, Canonical) on stage presenting a developer edition of Ubuntu Moblin Remix on a Dell Mini. Dell Mini !0v will come with Ubuntu Moblin pre-installed. Available to order on 24th. (tomorrow)

Moving on to Atom Developer Program. (For Windows and Moblin) starting with a netbook focus.

Re-confirmin that Microsoft Silverlight will be available on Moblin.

Demo: Silverlight running on Moblin on a UMID M1. Interesting. I’m wondering if silverlight can lever hardware decoding capabilities on Menlow.

Atom Developer program:

Developer program will include monetisation
Can enable code components to be shared across developers and for original dev to get paid for that work.

ADP will include ‘reputation’ points for devs.

First ADP application being demonstrated on Windows and Moblin. Same app on two operating systems. Interesting that ADP covers Windows OS.

App validation will be included in ADP

10:40 Wrapping up. That’s about it for now.
