that's the point. btw a carefully installed win xp system (with a regularly maintained registry!) will run for days on a netbook with a good powermanagement like e.g. asus or samsung (well depending on effective work usage, but that's the same with cellular phones: it's standby time or working time)

The "3 sec. boot up from suspend" of the Netwalker is not a boot, actually, it's just a resume process for the suspend in memory state.

You can do the same with Windows XP in suspend to RAM mode, or with any other OS that properly supports the ACPI of the device for that matter.

The key difference here is that the ARM-based platform of the Netwalker could easilly be kept for days in suspend to RAM mode without any big lose of battery life, while on current Atom platforms you'll see a noticeable drain.

This should change with the next generation of the Atom platform, with a much lesser battery drain when the device is not actually used.

I wonder if I can install ubuntu on this device and have 3 sec. boot up from suspend like netwalker.

From the reviews for the previous models of Kohjinsha, it seems that ubuntu do not have the wifi driver. On UMID, even no one succeed installing Ubuntu!

I like using ubuntu (quicker response that Windows) and the swivel screen...

The slow application start-up times would indicate that. True. But the CPU should be quite a bit faster on this.
