I don't see that as a one-off gimmick at all. That would actually be very useful for mobile video editors or studio applications.

that would be kind of interesting. Instead of sliding up to reveal a qwerty keyboard, have something that slides up to reveal a second keyboard (if you slide in the other axis than what this device does). You'd effectively go from a 5"x3" device to a 5"x6" device, if you do it right. Just with a slight border down the middle.

Let's see dual screens on pocketable mobile devices as well. Even more useful with the newer devices where you can multi task.

I think More people should recognise the Greater but less obvious parts of this one:
*AMD’s 3200 !!!!!
*4Gb ram possability!!!
there is so much hype about Ion, yet this is actually far far better. I had some fun with heavy duty games as Crysis on the 3200.
This looks to be a solid case for something that can do everything, tablet+ultraportable with light gameing+dualscreen on the go.
One hell of a glorious device. pretty sure one have to be a bit careful not to hurt the mecanisms of the lid(this is ok I think). still.. A chameleon that may be able to suit most -every- task to a degree.
From a technical mecanical standpoint it realy does look like they thought hard on the screen hinges, and It does look like it would accomodate an extended battery. If this gets avalible this is one HELL of a solid item.
But for multitasking GTD freak like myself 2screens 4Gbram and GPU to handle win7 is PURE sexyness. Easily worth it. My Xmas present to myself as soon as I can set aside some more cash from enxt months paycheck.

Hmm, i noticed a comparsion between the Vaio P and HP DV2, being an owner of both (DV2 now replaced by TX2), the HP DV2 did outperform the P (this based on the 4gig RAM and 512 ATI 3200 gfx display on the DV2, even the basic integrated ATI kils the GMA 500 on the P). Comparing size, the P obviously cannot be matched. Battery life sucks on both, though having the EXT battery on the P made life much better (@ <4-5 hours) with little impact on increase the size of it. P could be better alone with better graphics adapter.

My thoughts exactly with the others, though touch screen would be an added bonus, higher resolution alone would've sweetened the package.

You can barely fit Skype or MSN Messenger on ?x600.

Otherwise the concept is awesome.

Only 600 px of vertical resolution??? no thanks, now a days we need MINIMUM 768 px, otherwise it's vertical scrolling nightmare :(

If this was two screens of 1368x768, I'd be all over it, but at two screens of 1024x600 it's just not enough.

AMD's 3200 is second only to Nvidia's 9400 in terms of netbook GPU performance. Much better than GMA 950s or even 4500

It is in fact a 64-bit - Single Core

Performance compared to a Sony Vaio P with Atom 2-Core 1.33GHz 2G-RAM, the HP Pavilion dv2 with AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 1.6GHz Single-Core 2G-RAM is very similar. In single task the AMD beats the "P" by far, but of course this 2 screen Kohjinsha is to be used for multitasking. According to Conics.net you can spec the Kohjinsha with 4G-RAM. - The other thing that remains a question is if the graphics used for the AMD Neo is better than any used in any Atom system. That can make a bigger difference.

The marketing material says 4.5hrs of battery life, but then so did the material for the SC3 and we all know how that turned out, right Chippy?

I think it looks promising, and the Athlon Neo is way better than those Mickey Mouse Atom chips and is 64-bit (I stand subject to correction on this).

All in all, if it doesn't run hot enough to double as your mobile cooker (like the Everun Note), and the battery life is actually 4.5 hours (... or better yet, they release a double capacity battery that can do at least 6 real-world hours with wifi), they may actually have a winner here... let's all hope for a touch screen with our new convertible (although that would be a logical feature on a slate/convertible) shall we?

gma 4500 is not a problem for dual screen display but i say no to this one because of height of display resolution. 600px !!! many software require at least 768px. That is the why.
