Here’s the weekly rundown of items that we posted to the middle column on UMPCPortal, our ‘Other News’ section. It’s all good UMPC and MID-related stuff that, in most cases, we didn’t write about as a main news item.

UMPC manufacturers better step up their games soon. Soon smart phone power will take over the attraction of UMPC’s OS power. I actually feel a pull more toward the interface and user experience as a huge selling point for cell phones. E.g. Window’s mobile 7. How do you compare the ease of windows mobile 7 verse having to double click through windows xp menus just to surf?? The only device I’m looking forward to is XP phone. Since to me it has the best usable keyboard and mouse. But how attractive is windows mobile 7 for daily web activities? It’s a hard sell and UMPC manufacturers have not been very innovative recently. (we’ve heard of xp-phone, tablets, clamshells for years and there still isn’t a game changer) I really pull for UMPC concept, but no ones created a game changer.
