Does your computer run slower than a 3-legged mule? Introducing Ultrabook™ — inspired by Intel. Everything else seems old fashioned.

Thoughts?

Hah! Cute… I wondered where it was going…

Well produced but they didn’t resolve the conflict in a satisfying way!

If an average consumer sees this, they’ll just think:

“Just another commercial claiming Intel notebooks are quicker, and for some reason they’re calling it ‘Ultrabook’. pfft… Whatever.”

Failed to really distinguish ultrabooks from “normal” notebooks. Or worst, the advert is saying any notebook not labelled “ultrabook” is slower than a 3-legged mule (intel ones included).

Really wish IDF is going to better define ultrabooks from normal notebooks. At the current direction, ultrabooks are just cannibalising normal notebooks.

Duh. What else do you expect to happen? How else are they projecting to have 40% notebooks sold as Ultrabooks by end of the year? Magically add 40% marketshare on top of current sales?

The whole point is to stop the degradation of laptop sales, that alone would be worth it. They may even expand markets few %. Also I said it numerous times, we’re only in first generation. Wait for a little while longer for 2nd generation if you are currently disappointed.

  • The first wave of Ultrabooks was just getting the name out there, Intel will start their real push now with Ivy Bridge and even harder with Windows 8. We have a lot more to come, in what will truly separate ultrabooks into a category of it’s own.
