New Asus Zenbook UX31A, UX32A, and UX32VD Available Through Amazon US and DE

Asus Zenbook UX32VD

Asus has evidently been listening; that’s where the Zenbook UX32VD comes in. Using a similar, but slightly thicker, design as the original Zenbook, the UX32VD manages to squeeze in the full HDMI and third USB port that we’ve been asking for.

The UX32VD doesn’t receive the ‘Prime’ designation because it lacks an SSD, but it balances this out with discrete graphics from Nvidia.

The UX32VD-DB71 is on offer from Amazon for $1299, with it you’ll get the following:

  • 13.3″ 1920×1080 IPS display
  • Ivy Bridge Core i7-3517U @ 1.9GHz
  • 4GB of fast 1600MHz RAM
  • 500GB HDD + 24GB SSD performance cache
  • Nvidia GeForce GT 620M discrete GPU
  • 3xUSB 3.0
  • full HDMI
  • mini VGA
  • full SD
  • 3.5mm headphone/mic combo
  • 48Wh battery
  • 1.5kg

For detailed specifications check out the UX32VD tracking page in our Ultrabook database.

The UX32VD is attractive for people who want some on-the-go gaming thanks to the GT 620M and Core i7.

We’re surprised that Asus is not offering a ‘premium’ Zenbook Prime which has the extra ports and discrete graphics of the UX32VD but also adds in the missing SSD; perhaps that would push the price further than they’d like.

Asus Zenbook UX32A

Between the US and Germany, the UX32A is only currently available from Amazon DE. They have it listed as the UX32A-R3001V and it is essentially a low-end version of the UX32VD for €799. It is actually a Sandy Bridge Core i3-2367M.

With the UX32A you’ll be missing out on the 1080p display and instead find a 1366×768 screen. The UX32A is still equipped with the GT 620M discrete GPU and has all of the ports of the UX32VD.

Find detailed specifications at the Ux32A tracking page in our Ultrabook database.

We’re happy to see these quality Ultrabooks now available. Still missing is the UX21A which is the 11″ version of the Zenbook Prime. We’ll keep our eyes open for it. For the time being, we know that more than a handful of you will be happy with what’s shown here!

Looking good. Can’t wait till its available in 8GB!

  3. Roberts says:

According Asus UK, no plans to release in UK and the staggered release across Asia, Europe and US excluding UK is a embaressement.

  4. artaman says:

…no plans for which of the 3 models?

  5. Roberts says:

ux32vd, apparently no plans to release it.
Maybe to do with the fact they have priced ux31a at disgraceful £1850.
    Nice one Asus…

I wonder if that means that the Scandinavian version with a 128GB SSD might get an addition with 256GB SSD. One can always hope.

A bit of a warning when it comes to the ux31vd – it apparently has a problem when it comes to light bleed from the edge of the screen with a lot of customers.

  8. kevin says:

Hmm, the rest of the Zenbooks might suffer the same light bleeding.

  9. MP says:

Yes, all with the same panel

Not all of them have it though, and most report that it’s less visible after some usage.

MP, where are these photos from?

  11. MP says:

    A Swedish tech site/forum called sweclockers.se

They have a few threads about the UX31/32:s and this was something that that was observed by several new owners.

  12. Nick says:

Bought the 31A 2 weeks ago, got it about a week ago and love it. Wish it had more ssd though

  13. Horst says:

    Is the RAM, SDD/HDD replaceable?

    Nice one Asus…

£1850!!!…this -especially given my eligibility for the academic discount- makes apple macbook air a far cheaper alternative (you would ever even imagine the above statement would hold the slightest element of truth…)

  15. MP says:

I don’t even know what to say, but a “lol” seems in place. If it indeed is £1850 it’s plain ridiculous.

    That’s mental

    100% from Comet:
    http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Laptops/buy-ASUS-UX31A-R4003V-Laptop/417401

Should mention this is the ux31a not ux32vd but still £1000 more than US price.
I assume since the original was a pc world exlusive in UK, Asus are using the same trick.

  18. Chippy says:

I would wait for street prices to settle. This looks like Comet just sweeping up some profit from the early adopters.

  19. Roberts says:

Really any ideas when the full retail release in UK is?
Asus won’t comment, and previous Asus UX31 was an exclusive to Dixons/Pcword chain so will other chains even be able to pick it up?

  20. Adam says:

Newegg US and Canada have the UX 32a but they’re all shipping with last gen SandyBridge CPUs… a real shame.

  21. vjachi says:

same in Bulgaria, but they are at low cost. 750 Euro for UX32A. UX32VD (ivy) already avalible for 885Euro :)

  22. Adam says:

I’m really, REALLY interested in the UX32a Ivybridge release but it doesn’t look like they’re going to release an i3 Ivybridge version of the 32a….

I’d really like to test out a UX32a with some sort of Ivybridge set to 13watt TDP to see what the battery life looks like. I’ve now got the ability to get some hands-on time with most ultrabooks and I’m going to see if i can just start running MobileMark on them to get some battery life comparisons with an without the 13 watt TDP setting enabled on a few Ivy Bridge models as they come in. -This is what I’ve been dying to see but as far as I know no one has tested this yet.
