Sony US Offering up to $320 Savings on Vaio T13 Ultrabook

Posted on 03 August 2012 by

Though it seems doubtful that the smaller VAIO T11 is going to make it to US shores, Sony US is currently offering up to $320 on savings on the T13 Ultrabook. The discounts do not come off of the base price but are instead discounts on upgrades that you can select during the customization process. Additionally, if you’re a student you can get up to $250 toward a PS3 or Playstation Vita. Here’s a rundown of the savings: The cheapest you can get the T13 directly from Sony is $769 for the base model which includes the following specs:

  • 3rd gen Intel Core i5-3317U (1.70GHz / 2.60GHz with Turbo Boost)
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • 13.3″ LED backlit display (1366 x 768)
  • Intel HD4000 Graphics
  • 320GB (5400rpm) + 32GB performance cache
  • 4GB (4GB fixed onboard + 1 open slot) DDR3-1333Mhz

As for the discounts on upgrades; some of it is stuff you’ll want and some from stuff you won’t want. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Save $20: Core i5 (1.7GHz/2.6GHz) –> Core i7 (1.9GHz/3.0GHz)
  • Save up to $30: 4GB (4GB fixed onboard + 1 open slot) RAM
    • Save $10: –> 6GB (4GB fixed onboard + 2GB removable) RAM
    • Save $30: –> 8GB (4GB fixed onboard + 4GB removable) RAM
  • Save up to $210:320GB (5400rpm) + 32GB HHD
    • Save $10: –> 500GB (5400rpm) + 32GB HHD
    • Save $50: –> 128GB SSD
    • Save $100: –> 256GB SSD
    • Save $210: –> 512GB SSD
  • Save $35: Kaspersky Internet Security (30-day trial) –> Kaspersky Internet Security (3 year full version)

Assuming you want to disregard the software, max out your CPU and RAM, and make it to the first tier SSD, you’re looking at savings of  $100 with a grand total (after savings) of $1149. The max performance customization which would swap the first tier 128GB SSD for the top tier 512GB SSD would push the cost to a rather pricey $1659 after a savings of $260.

We haven’t had a chance to get our hands on the VAIO T13, but it seems to be doing fairly well according to Amazon reviews, maintaining a 4 star rating with a total of 43 reviews across all of the SKUs offered.

Students and faculty with a valid .edu address can save $250 on a PS3 or PS Vita by using the code 250PS3 or 250VITA at checkout respectively.
