First Black Friday Ultrabook Deals Appear, $100 Amazon Gift Card with Samsung Series 9

Posted on 18 November 2012 by

Ultrabooks are likely to be a hot product this year during Black Friday, especially if companies can get the new Ultrabook convertibles into stores before the busiest shopping day of the year in the US. Amazon is starting the party early with the first Black Friday Ultrabook deals we’ve seen so far. They’re offering a free $100 Amazon gift card with the purchase of select Samsung series 9 Ultrabooks.

The Samsung Series 9 Ultrabook deal from Amazon may be the first, but there will be many more to come. If you’re looking to get your hands on an Ultrabook and save some cash, stay tuned to Ultrabook News where we’ll be highlighting the best Ultrabook deals we find.

Amazon is offering three different variants of the Samsung Series 9 Ultrabook (2012). Along with your purchase you’ll get a $100 Amazon gift card. The deal page is right here . All of these are the latest (second-gen) version of the Series 9 with third-generation Intel Core processors. You can choose between Windows 7 or Windows 8 which is nice; keep your eye on the price when you pick the OS as the price will change. Oddly enough, some of the variants are cheaper with Windows 7, and some are cheaper with Windows 8!

samsung series 9 13.3 black friday ultrabook deals

Samsung Series 9 13.3″

The cheapest model available is the Samsung Series 9 13.3″ (NP900X3C). It starts at $1199 with Windows 7, or $1299 with Windows 8. If you’re comfortable with installing an operating system, go with the Windows 7 model to save $100, then you can buy Windows 8 here for $40!

Features, Size, and Weight

This 13.3″ Series 9 has a 1600×900 screen, Intel Core i5-3317U processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD. The unit weighs 1.17kg (2.6 pounds) and is an impressive 12.7mm (0.5″) thick.

Ports

Ports include 1x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, Micro HDMI, Micro VGA (optional adapter required), full SD, 3.5mm headphone/mic combo jack, and ethernet/LAN (RJ45) (via included adapter). WiFi b/g/n, WiDi (wireless display), and Bluetooth 4.0 is included for wireless connectivity.

Samsung Series 9 15

Starting at $1318 (with Windows 7) is the Samsung Series 9 15″ (NP900X4C) . This is essentially the same as the 13.3″ model but you’ll find a larger screen, twice the RAM (8GB), an extra USB 3.0 port, and a much larger battery. Along with that you’ll also find a bit more weight and thickness.

You can opt for Windows 8 which will push the cost to $1399. Again, you can save money if you go with Windows 7 and install Windows 8 yourself for $40 here.

Features, Size, and Weight

The Samsung Series 9 15″ has a 1600×900 screen, Intel Core i5-3317U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD. The unit weighs 1.59kg (3.51 pounds) and is 14.7mm (0.58″) thick — still quite thin and light compared to many non-Ultrabooks.

Ports

Ports are nearly identical with the addition of the aformetnioned extra USB port: 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, Micro HDMI, Micro VGA (optional adapter required), full SD, 3.5mm headphone/mic combo jack, and ethernet/LAN (RJ45) (via included adapter). WiFi b/g/n, WiDi (wireless display), and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connectivity.

Top End Samsung Series 9 15

The last of the three units rounding out the Series 9 Black Friday deal is the top-spec 15″ model. This is the same as the 15″ model above but with a faster processor and larger SSD. WiFi in this model adds the A-band for a/b/g/n connectivity (the other two are only b/g/n). I’m not sure if Amazon has their circuits crossed right now, but you can actually get this unit cheaper with Windows 8 than with Windows 7 — $100 cheaper! Thus we’d recommend choosing Windows 8 in this case unless you’ve got a vendetta against the new OS.

Features and Weight

Intel Core i7-3517U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD. The unit weighs 1.59kg (3.51 pounds) and is 14.7mm (0.58″) thick.

Ports

2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, Micro HDMI, Micro VGA (optional adapter required), full SD, 3.5mm headphone/mic combo jack, and ethernet/LAN (RJ45) (via included adapter). WiFi a/b/g/n, WiDi (wireless display), and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connectivity.

  • This is definitely the first black friday ultrabook deal ive seen, the only other thing close is $449 for the asus vivobook 200 at best buy. Other than the yoga which seems to be everytwhere I haven’t seen much in the way of convertibles and tablets locally, unless you count the asus rt tablet. I do know where one samsung ativ pc is tucked away in a store but theres no display up. It would be great to see some new windows 8 hardware in the flesh but im thinking it might be a while at the rate things are going.
