Gigabyte reveals Ultrabooks with Haswell and discrete graphics

Computex 2013 has seen a few announcements already for new Haswell Ultrabooks and Gigabyte is also getting in on the action with a range of Ultrabooks with the new chip and discrete graphics as well.

Starting off on the gaming front are two new Ultrabooks bearing the Ultrablade brand, the 14″ P34G and the larger 15.6″ P35K.

The P34G comes with a 14″ 1920×1080 HD IPS screen, Haswell processor and NVIDIA GTX 760M graphics. Its storage goes up to a 256GB SSD and up to a 1TB of hard drive. It also has 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, Ethernet, headset jack, and SD card reader. Its 0.83″ thin and weighs 3.7 pounds.

The P35K’s (pictured) 15.6″ IPS display also features a full HD resolution, and also sports a  Haswell processor and NVIDIA GTX 765M graphics. Storage wise this model is more flexible, supporting up to 4 storage device up to 3TB. It offers similar ports as its smaller sibling, with 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, D-Seub, Ethernet, mic and headphone jacks, SD card reader and also optional Thunderbolt. This model also comes in a bit heavier at almost 4.9 pounds but keeps the thinness at 0.83″ while also offering a swappable drive bay for a DVD drive or hard disk.

Also announced were 2 other Ultrabooks, the 14″ U24F and U24T. Both models are similarly specced, with Haswell processors, Ethernet, HDMI, and USB ports, NVIDIA GT 750M graphics and can accommodate up to a 256GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. Both models weigh in at 3.7 pounds and are 0.83″ thick. The U24T adds a touchscreen to the list of specifications.

    I’m confused why these are all called ultrabooks.
    If they don’t have touch screens and they are haswells, they don’t conform to intel’s definition of an ultrabook.
