P1160072With Black Friday coming up this is one of the Ultrabooks we expected to get a heavy discount. It’s already at $699 which brings you an Ivy Bridge i3, 128GB SSD and 1366×768 touchscreen in a 3 pound package. No, it’s not a Haswell version but it’s a bundle worth taking a closer look at.

Lenovo Yoga 11S at $699 Black Friday offer.

This is one of the few one-piece 2-in-1 convertibles that does a reasonable job at being mobile, productive and useful as a casual tablet. No, it’s not as light as a removable 2-in-1 or dedicated tablet but that’s not the point. 1.3KG is netbook weight but with quite a bit more power from the Y-series CPU in a single unit. I will be checking Handbrake with Intel Quick-Sync right after this to see how close it gets to the top score of 330 FPS we’ve had on full-power Haswell. Expect update here in 10 mins…

Update: 182FPS which is pretty good!

Touch, SSD, Windows 8, convertible, for $699. What’s not to like? I’ll be doing some tests over the next 24hrs. If you’ve got questions, let me know.
