Digital Cube's iStation G43 is an interesting look by an annoying reporter.
It would be nice to have a comparison with the Raon Digital Vega. |

I have the Raon, but the Digital cube has 60 GBytes hard drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth built in, where the Raon needs usb attachments for such, and 30gb or 40gb is out now, the Digital Cube looks like a bargain, but did i catch the battery life, the vega is 5 hours, and did I miss how they calim its smaller

The G43 looks like Digital Cube's iStation NetForce (see http://www.i-station.co.kr/products/nf.html#page) and the dimensions are 148.0(W) X 78.0(H) X 21.8(D)mm, where as the Vega is 160.0(W) X 80.0(H) X 27.5(D)mm. The battery life will be unknown until we start seeing reviews, but this does look like a very cool looking pocketable computer. |

I had a meeting with Digital Cube yesterday. THe first thing to say is that what you see is NOT what will be launched.
Digital Cube has not finalised the board design and not even finlised a decision on the processor they will use. VIA could still be in the picture. All they have is found a name (G43,) made a board and put it in a modified S43 case. What you see in the (mostly badly reported) stories on the net should be ignored. We talked about designs and keyboards and prices and distribution. They like the idea of a Q1 Ultra style keyboard, mouse pointer instead of trackpad, and of inreasing the CPU up above an LX800. They will aim for an end user price of $700 which, if they hit their timescale target of July, is about right. So as you can see, there is no G43 info right now. Everything is open. But its really good to see yet another manufacturer working on it. I've asked them to keep UMPCportal in the design loop. All of you that write in the forums have good ideas so maybe we can help them. Regards Steve. |

Thanks Chippy, after your comments it reminds me of a Monty Python Quote re the rep from Digital Cube showing off the device
"Hes making it up as he goes along" And I guess the reporter new not of the Raon Digital saying this is the first devivce this small with windows xp? |

Oh, sorry I should have been more specific. Not the 60GB Version. HD Size isn't of big importance to me. I was referring to the upgrade to the Vega, where it has built in Wi-Fi, ect...while maintaining its small size, and cheap price.
And the reason you have to keep logging in, is because there is no "Remember Me" Function yet to be implimented. Since the posts for the forums, and the posts for the mainsite blogs are all run using the same log in system, thats why you have to login on the main page, and there is no log in for the forums specifically. |

No worries.
To bad you couldn't just get the PHPBB code, from a template or something. I've always fancied PHPBB anyways. Never really heard of XOOPS. |
