I'm interested in finding an external universal battery for the Q1 ultra. I don't want to purchase the Samsung battery since I will be using this battery to charge other mobile devices, such as an OQO, a Vaio laptop, etc. Hence, I need something that is very universal - the more laptop tips, the better.

Has anyone tried any of these and found one that includes a tip for the Q1 ultra?

Lenmar, APC, Tekkeon, etc. Do any of these sell the correct tip for the Q1 ultra?

I have the MP3400. For the original Q1, I had to buy a tip from Tekkeon since none of the 8 that came with it would fit. I'm not sure if the same tip is used in the Q1U.

The tip that fit the original Q1 is PA-L55.

It works with the Q1 Ultra.
All the Q1's use the same tip.

The only problem with the Tekkeon is that you can't use it inline (connected to the mains + powering a device) but it's a very rugged unit, both in terms of physical abuse and electrical abuse. I used one for a week last year on my Solar UMPC tour.

Really? I can charge the Tekkeon battery with the AC adapter and charge the Samsung Q1 or Fujitsu U810 at the same time.
Maybe it's different with the Q1U.

Thanks for the source of Q1U power tips.

I have several DC/DC and AC/DC, 16 volt power supplies I used for my Sony T350 laptop. I tried those 16volts supplies with the correct tip on the QU1 instead of the stock 19volts and it works fine. The Q1U's battery seems to charge in about the same time with no heat or warning issues. It sort of makes sense that the input would be tolerant of considerable voltage variation since the 8 cell battery option plugs into the power socket and that battery's voltage drops during discharge causing no damage.
