Unusual battery wear readings on the Q1

What started as an innocent-enough question over on the Origami Project forums has turned into a pretty worrying problem for some of us; Notebook Hardware Controls is reporting unusually high "wear" levels on some Q1 batteries after only two weeks or so of use. In my case, this morning NHC reports a wear level of 11%, up from 7% yesterday and 3% when I first installed NHC a week ago.

I'm not the only one seeing this pattern, either.

I'm hoping that this is just a glitch with how NHC reads the battery, but have a sinking feeling that at least some of us have faulty batteries; at least one poster from the UK is reporting 0% wear on his Q1, and eo owners are also reporting 0% wear on their machines.

If you have a Q1, or if you have some ideas on what could be going on, please join us over on this thread or share your experiences and insights here.

Wow, that sucks. At least if there is an issue it doesn't seem to be with all Q1s like the eo battery problem.

I would suppose that if it kept getting worse you could get the battery replaced from Samsung, so thats a plus

I'm not sure if this is the case. perhaps someone can verify...

i dug into the q1 bios and found a utility that is label ''smart calibration'' for the battery. this led me to think that the bios does tend to go off track on measuring our batt cap. and its life wear. i havent have the time to do the calibration.

but when i have a chance and no one yet has beat me to it...ill post back my results.

This is an interesting question. I've seen this mentioned a few times now.

is the battery wear resulting in shorter useable life?

It could be a reporting glitch; mine is now back to showing 7%, and if I understand the chemistry correctly wear doesn't "recover".

I've noticed no change in battery endurance when using the unit, though a 4-7% decrease would be difficult to actually detect without careful record-keeping and analysis.

But it's not a bug in NHC because there is at least another program reporting the same wearing level.
