Samsung Q1 Bricked by BIOS flash

Does anybody know how to recover from a bad bios flash on the Q1? I was trying to upgrade to the 20MA bios and it froze. I know it has a Phoenix bios from screenshots on the internet, so there's a BIOS recovery mode. You have to make a CRISIS recovery disk and boot with a Fn-B or Win-B, but there's no keyboard so how do I do this? Is there a special combination of buttons?

I downloaded the NP-Q1 Service Manual and Technical Diagrams and can't find a solution.

I'm only a desktop guy and never had a bad flash yet, but if all you're missing is a keyboard, I'd say try your luck with a standard USB one? If it detects it at POST, which it should.

Most usb keyboards don't have a dedicated Fn key and I don't think the BIOS picks up a usb keyboard device.

All desktop and notebook computers detect USB keyboards at boot. I'd be willing to bet it's the same for the Q1.

Where did you find pictures of the BIOS? If I could see certain sections of it it could confirm this.

The power of Google:

The problem is that on traditional laptop systems the keyboard is connected via PS/2 not USB. You can verify in the device manager.
I'm thinking there is another key combination on the Q1 using the native keys, but maybe not.

So I opened up my Q1 and there's a diagnostic port, but I don't have any way to interface with it. But according to the Service Manual I can ground pin R219 to ground to get it into Crisis Recover Mode. The problem is I can't find this pin.

I also downloaded the Service Manuals for the Q1-B and Q1 Ultra. They all have similar schematics for Crisis mode, but obviously different pins.

Take a look at the Q1 schematic I've attached.

R219 appears to be a resistor (sw corner) in the box marked "crisis".

Pehaps a pin on one side or the other?

I know that. I can't find it on the actual system board.

Can anybody tell how to restore BIOS flash on Q1 Ultra?

I have external keyboard, but it seems that the combination Win+B does not work.

2DanielNTX Did you find a solution?

When I bought mine it was already the latest BIOS, but I assume if you boot from a USB stick with the flash utility on it it should work (download from Samsung, latest is 03ME, something like that)

I have failed during writing BIOS and as a result my UMPC can't boot from HDD or USB Flash.

As I understand it, to restore the BIOS I need to start the UMPC in recovery mode, but I can't do this. Win+B not working for me.

How did you flash it badly? That's crazy bad, at least for desktops (my area). Unless you somehow lose power, I don't see how a bad flash would happen. Was it a corrupted file?

USB keyboards work fine from the start, tried with 3 of mine and they all work. Only the Samsung Q1U one has an "Fn" key which I never used in my life nor know existed. I never had to flash mine though, so I only ever needed F2 for the BIOS. edit: the only combo the FN key could do after some testing is enter sleep mode with Fn + escape. No other one worked even though it shows it on the KB :(

It's Fn+B or Win+B for the flashing stuff you say? And it's not working?

You're gonna have to open it up and find the pin for CRISIS bios recovery mode. It's listed in the service manual.

Can you throw a photo of this place? Or at least describe more precisely in what part of the motherboard to look for him? He even signed?

What to do with it: close and boot?
