requires full Internet capability on his ideal smartphone and now he's been testing out whether he can run with his smartphone as his main computing device. I think he's the perfect UMPC/MID customer!

Its the N95 that he uses for his test and its well worth watching the show to see and hear what he has to say. He uses it to handle emails, rss feeds, web browsing (he says the keyboard was required, and there were annoying 'quirks') and editing documents. Unfortunately his conclusion is that if you are going away for a 2 weeks, you need the laptop. What! Hold on Steve, you missed a category. What about the brave new world of UMPCs? Can I send you one to test? The show is available here and it also includes a short section about the HTC Shift.

Smartphone show: Can a smartphone replace a laptop?

Steve Litchfield of The Smartphone Show seemed fairly excited about the HTC Shift when I spoke to him at the HTC press event in London last week. I’m not suprised because I think his requirements go beyond what the smartphone can currently offer. He’s a man who requires full Internet capability on his ideal smartphone and now he’s been testing out whether he can run with his smartphone as his main computing device. I think he’s the perfect UMPC/MID customer!
