Would you pay $4,500 for an OQO 2+?

oqo2 bid I hope the answer is no, however, if yes someone has already beat you to the punch.

As you’ll recall, the OQO Model 2+ was shown off at CES 09 where it made a pretty big splash around the web with its OLED screen and Intel Atom CPU. Unfortunately OQO went under before the Model 2+ made it to market.

A pre-release model made it way onto Ebay, and the ensuing bids pushed the unit up to $4,500 for the winner. It would be pretty cool to be one of a few people to actually own a Model 2+, but I think for most of us, it would be hard to justify that price!

    of course i would…if i was rich!

this is a collectors item since its the first pc that uses an oled display from a company that helped spearhead the umpc genre and its a pc that was never released which gives it that mysteriousness and rarity of a honus wagner baseball card.

If I have that kind of money to spend in this kind of stuff this, absolutelly, would be my choice

Having owned the previous version and not having found anything that comes close as a suitable replacement, I would definately buy it. I don’t have that kind of money though so it’s a mute point.

    I think I would NOT spend $4,500 for a OQO 2+ :) That a little bit TOO expensive ;)

When a Viliv S5 with keyboard , OLED Screen, 2 Giga, Gobi, Atom 1.86? OQO put the best in our pockets but not at a reasoneble price :(

  9. xemone says:

Personally, I wouldn’t but I do understand why someone else would pay that much for a device that (from what I understand) was never sold by OQO itself. I’m probably just saying that ‘cuz I don’t have $4,500 burning a hole in my pocket; you know.

But anyways congrats to the winner of the bid. You now own a one of a kind!

What’s crazy to me is that it got there with only 2 bids!

  13. ssagg says:

I don’t think it´s price is because it´s a collector´s Item. For those who accept this screen size in sacrifice of portability it´s simply as good as a UMPC can be today

  14. schultz says:

    Collectors item…LOL
Just like the IBM mainframes are collectors items. Keep it for 10 years and put it back on Ebay with a min bid of $4501.00.
