EviGroup Pad Website Goes Live.

evigroupEviGroup CEO Nicolas Ruiz just emailed us to let us know that the official website of the EviGroup Pad [info] is now live. Unfortunately it’s in French at the moment but Google does a reasonable job of translating it to English although I’m not so sure about the ‘toes’ bit!

There are four versions of the device based around the same core hardware.

  • Processor: 1.6Ghz Atom
  • RAM: 1GB SO-DIMM 667Mhz. Slot. Ram interchangeable.
  • Storage Capacity: 2’5 160GB HDD S-ATA.
  • Display: 10.6-inch touchscreen, resistive.  Resolution 1024 * 600.
  • Pointing Device: Stylus deployable, thumbs and fingers (toes as possible)
  • Wireless connectivity: 3G / WiFi a / b / g
  • Networking: Ethernet
  • Lithium-Ion Removable: 3 hours of time average.
  • Devices internal microphone, webcam Front 1300000 pixels.
  • Ports SD / MMC / MS (SDHC Compatible)
  • Connectivity: 1 x VGA, 3 x USB2 ports, jack, microphone jack.
  • Weight: 990g (battery included)
  • Dimensions: 260x160x22mm

The best way to describe it would be as a T101H without the keyboard. At 900gm its a very interesting productivity option, I recon the prices aren’t too bad either. 620 for the 3G version seems quite interesting as part of a mobile productivity kit. Note that the RAM is upgradeable too.

  • Tablet Pad Standard without Windows 7 without Seline10: 489 € + 30 € charges.
  • Tablet Pad Standard with Windows 7 Home Premium and Seline10: 549 € + 30 € charges.

The Elite version includes 3G:

  • Tablet Pad Elite 7 with Windows Home Premium and Seline10: 599 € + 30 € charges.
  • Tablet Pad Elite without Windows 7 without Seline10: 539 € + 30 € charges.

My main questions are:

  • What does ‘Seline’ give me?
  • Does the tablet enable touch features in Windows 7?
  • What’s the real battery life?

We’re trying to get hold of a review unit.

“Lithium-Ion Removable: 3 hours of time average.”

    main weak point.

Wonder how hard it’d be to put the innards of a Macbook Air in it :-)

(or a Beagle Board… with Android and a 3G card)

Kinda sad they aren’t interested in my american money.
    :(

The device looks nice, seems affordable, and more powerful than a viliv x70. Yea I am totally interested.

Same here, compared to the other slate/tablet styles (Archos 9 being one), this one seems more “full”.

Looks not bad to me, only the battery life if its true.

What is Seline? Found this and it explains it good. http://pad.evi-group.com/

they should shrink this device to 4.8″ and add it to their portfolio. that would be awesome. a true competitor to the viliv s5.

“Dispositif de pointage : stylet déployable, pouces et doigts (doigts de pied possible)”

They just mean you can use your toes instead of fingers if you so wish (or can’t do otherwise, for all I know).

    Hi Chippy
will you find out which languages does it support?
    :)

â—¦Does the tablet enable touch features in Windows 7?

I think not… When you look at the video postet here, it indicates that it does not support native win7 (since there is no on-screen “pop up” when he taps the adressebar, he goes to the side to get the TIP window).

Its a shame that all these UMPC/Netbooks does not support win7 touch (or vista). Pen flicks are very usefull, and the native touch opens doors in lots of other software to.

  14. Nicolas says:

    Hi

It supports Win7 native onscreen. Its Firefox which not support it. If you try with “standard” apps, it will work well. I think Firefox doesn’t use the standad text area of Microsoft Windows, its why the keyboard button doesn’t appear.

    @Brtt > Its just a joke, sorry :)

Hi, Fist thx for the great post… And IMO laptops now days have all the features provided by a standard PC like keyboard, display, a pointing device (functions like mouse) and speakers. Laptops are powered by a rechargeable battery that can last up to a few hours. Personally… I have a HP Pavilion dv600, I LOVE it since it was my first laptop :D but I’m thinking now to buy something better since its became old now… I’m not sure what it’s better, But i think I’ll look for a Avio since I can’t buy a Mac :( it’s too expensive!! So what is your advice please?
