ASUS Transformer Book T300 to get Haswell Upgrade

You’re looking at buying a Transformer Book? Wait! A Haswell refresh is coming and it could make a huge difference. Mobilegeeks spotted the refreshed (not redesigned) T300 model at Computex today. Video below.

As Haswell-based Ultrabooks aren’t expected until the Aug-Sept timeframe there’s still a long time to wait so if you’re really looking for a Transformer Book now, maybe a few weeks wait will pay off in terms of price reductions. One wonders why ASUS didn’t just wait for Haswell in the first place.

Thanks Mobilegeeks. (Check out their video channel on YouTube here because there’s a lot of good stuff flowing through it.)

    What sort of ‘heavy-duty’ scenario?
    Chippy.

Well, they’ve upgraded to Haswell but switched from aluminium to plastic, the tablet looks a lot thicker and the dock is just keyboard and trackpad (no battery, no extra ports and no HDD). It kind a fells like a downgrade to me.
Hopefully with Haswell you can get the same battery life as with Ivy Bridge and the extra battery. Also the dock looks a lot lighter. But the plastic in the tablet really disappointed me. I was also expecting a HD5000.

Will this be powerful enough to use photoshop etc?

    Very, very disappointing!
I expected similar specs of the TX300CA with the added features & performance of the Haswell chip-set. Agree with khakz here – all around a definite downgrade, not worth waiting for…

Why are they removing the HDD from the dock? That’s the most important feature which I think will make the laptop + tablet hybrid concept works!

This appears to be the new T300 not TX300, so obviously ASUS is releasing a cheaper model to go along with its more premium model.
