One of the most exciting, UMPC-like products of the last 6 months was the ASUS Transformer Book T90. Launched at CES it was listed with an Atom Z3775, 8.9-inch tablet and keyboard with a weight of just 850 grams but it never reached the market. There’s some evidence that it’s available out in the east but there’s nothing available in Europe or America. That could change tomorrow as we’re hoping, even predicting that ASUS have held it back in order to give it an Atom X5, Windows 10 and 64-bit work-over.
In just over 15 hours from now we’ll know because ASUS’ Computex press conference will be all but over. We’ll probably see a new wearable, a new Android tablet, a new monitor and a new WiFi router but ASUS needs to make a Windows 10 + Atom X5 announcement to keep up with others. They have the Transformer Book T90 waiting in the wings, an 8-inch Windows tablet that needs an update and the X205 low-cost 11.6 laptop that’s now running the ‘old’ Atom series. Which will it be, ASUS?
The ASUS press conference will be streamed live from Taipei so tune in below or on YouTube at 8am CEST, 6am GMT, 1400 Taipei, 2300 (today) San Francisco.
