Acer Switch 11 V hands-on reveals July availability.

Updated on 02 June 2015 by

Finally. The Acer Switch 11 V gets some airtime at Computex and the 5 minute overview gives us the first information on availability. It was announced at an Acer event in April but there weren’t any details about availability and Acer have been quiet ever since. Don’t be shy, Acer, because this looks like a really nice Core-M based 2-in-1 and if the price is right it will certainly compete with the Surface 3. The latest information from Tech Reporter tells us that it will be available “sometime in July.”

Acer Aspire Switch 11V. Expected at Computex, 2015 (June)

Latest on availability: July 2015

Andrzej  (that ‘Andre’ to you and me!) likes the Switch 11 V and just confirmed to me directly that availability is sometime in July (in Asia at least) and that there’s no keyboard backlight. It looks like it in the video so I double-checked with Andrzej on it. There’s no back-light button on the keyboard either.

The aluminium rear casing creates a premium look and appears to strengthen the tablet well. Don’t forget that there’s a digitizer layer (the stylus is an accessory) and battery life is quoted to be 8 hours which doesn’t sound huge but we’ve heard that there’s a 45 Wh battery inside which means that those 8 hours are probably productive hours.

Switch 11V doesn't have USB-C but comes with a keyboard backlight.
