New UMPCPortal team members #3

Posted on 02 May 2008 by Chippy

No, its’s not another new member, its just me wanting to say an official ‘welcome’ to Thorsten, (AKA The_Niles) and Ben (AKA Benz145) and to mention the other team members that are working with me at the moment.

Andre (Lyser) and Sascha, who joined us on the podcast last week, are going to be taking a look at UMPCPortal.de over the next few weeks to try and get that going for our German-speaking guests. Pdiddy is still working hard in the forums and Elliot (Arielviews007) is doing all sorts of stuff around the site. Of course, we shouldn’t forget the old-timer, Kornel who’s stock is rising right now!

I should also give a shout out to those who tip me, highlight my errors and notify me of spam and other site issues. You are just as much a part of the team as anyone else as are people like Ctitanic, Mikey and TSO; Consistent and valued forums members that have all posted over 500 items in the forum. Hat-tip to you guys and everyone else that gives feedback and keeps the site alive.

Have a great weekend everyone - Chippy.

Dear Chippy, dear Ben AKA Benz145 from the US,

I’m a new israeli-german member to your forum and particularly registered in order to inquire with your knowledgeable resources whether anybody out there did not confront yet with the true ideal in modern tech. i.e. “the advantage” of united mobility, which is: combining various tools in a single gadget f.i. a UMPC featuring a reasonable XP OS with 3G or HSDPA cellular performance and a GPS system and a touchscreen and at last a stills/video camera that can be used for all purpose not only silly 1.3 webcam quality. As Ben has mentioned: “I love having the ability to be mobile while staying connected, and all of these devices help me accomplish that.” Then why not unite “all of these devices” The aim and intention should be indeed to achieve a multi-functional single device that will concentrate on truly serving the consumers interest, not only gaining money & time by selling design nonsenses etc. Any additional feature suggestions such as: Digital Voice Recording options, or similar useful add-ons are sincerely welcomed.

Do you release that “Test Text” is showing at the bottom of this screen? Here’s a screencap - http://screencast.com/t/u8hdDIGgH6
