ABI: 35 Million Netbook Shipments Expected in 2009

Posted on 27 January 2009 by Chippy

ABI research are expecting 35 million netbooks to be shipped in 2009 and 139 Million in 2011.

Their definition of a netbook is not stated. The source is unknown too as the press release points to their Q4 2008 review of the mobile market.

My prediction is less than half that in 2009, based on the traditional definition of a netbook. 139 million seems to high for the traditional netbook market but if they’re including all the devices that are creeping up in price, features and size then why not.

Hey Steve, I think that the figures and dates are wrong, Isn’t it suppossed to be 35 million in 2009 and 139 million in 2010?

Or at least 174 million combined in 2009? Unless you are talking about quarters of 2009 35 mill in the 1H and 174 in the 2H

Anyways great articles always keep me up to date in technology.

Also, Are you guys going to do ever a video review of the oqo 2+ since it seems you are the only one that have it on hand.

    Thanks

Corrected. Thanks for the heads up.
We won’t be doing a full review of the OQO as the device we have just aren’t close enough to beiong production ready to asses things like heat, noice, battery life.
I’ve put my summary up here:
