Black UMID M1 finds a matching keyboard

black umid m1 Some of the earliest pictures of the UMID M1 [Portal page] were of a glossy black version that had a highly contrasting white keyboard. Well, after the release of the initial white M1, it looks like a matte black version is on the way. Lazion.com has some images showing a UMID M1 which has a glossy black lid with a matte black inside and matching black keyboard. Jenn from Pocketables also points out that we’ve seen a pink and red version which have yet to be made official as well, so keep an eye out. I think the black version looks a bit better than the white version; your thoughts?

I have the white one, but the black would be much nicer for me.

I agree….why is it that it always seems like something like this comes out the day after I receive the current model (white…)…

Although, the one good thing about white is that it doesn’t show fingerprints as much, but the black looks sharp somehow….

Will probably get one if they get released…then I’ll have ebony and ivory……

    ;-)

Ready to buy, but where from….

  5. scoobie says:

ebay is your only way at the moment I’m afraid. And supplies seem very limited especially 32GB

Basically I think they are very small and have limited supply.

  6. Vakeros says:

Which is a shame as I will be ordering through where I work and they have a policy NOT to allow orders through eBay. I guess I shall have to wait.

I think the matt plastics instantly look less cheap and tacky. May have gone for this over the S5 had it existed at the time.

Even in Korea, it is extremely difficult to find 32GB model. A new batch of 32GB model is said to be released next week. UMID just opened a shop for hands-on try. But no 32GB model was displayed. They demonstrated a USB-to-VGA connection adapter which works well for still image.

I don’t see how 16GB can be much use as a PC.

No chance of a USB to HDMI adaptor is there?

Yes definitely think the black looks much better than the white, really feeling the matt finish of the inside too.

I went on ebay a few days back and saw some 32gb SSD white versions for around £500. I agree that 16gb is certainly not substantial although microSD support is a nice addition and would certainly help a little with storage. Obviously not great for large media archives though, I do not think that that would be the primary use that these types of devices are made for though.

I love the form factor of this perhaps a little more than the Viliv S5. At this time the Viliv seems a btter option but the Umid just looks so dinky! and despite all it’s misgivings still looks to be a great device. If I had the money I would definitely be picking up one of these.

@scoobie: Grab a $35 EVGA UV12 USB to VGA adapter. Works like a champ for my 1440×900 LCD monitor. If you live near a Fry’s you can get it for $20 after a mail in rebate.

some come up on gmarket from time to time, but the 32gb model is rare there as well, and it’s hard to find sellers that ship to the US.

Hey, I just got my 32GB from a guy on eBay, named …..oh, never mind….
