Spotted in a video from Techvideoblog is this 4.3” slider MID running Android on the Freescale i.MX51 platform. i.MX51 runs a Cortex A8 CPU core which means the browser rendering performance could be pretty sharp.
Specifications are unknown but clearly the device is voice-cabable and video-capable. Android on Cortex is definitely something I’d like to test out. ‘Later this year’ says Freescale.

Wonder what the resolution is? 4.3″ is going to be small for 1024×600, as it’s already small on a 4.8″ screen!
So it’s a bit too big for a phone, and a little too small for my preference of a MID, and the styling needs a bit of work, but this is definitely the kind of device we need to be showing up.

you dont need 1024×600 on a nonWindows-based GUI device, 800×480 should be just fine.

I agree to me what I want to see is just a simple pocket laptop. Rather than a slider I want it to have a touch type keyboard and think a clamshell would be a better design.

I agree with Marc, I like seeing this… and yeah, the screen size doesn’t do it for me either.

Please tell me this isn’t the Tegra IAC S2 phone running ANDROID.
I never thought someone could manage to make it look that ugly…

Not bad. But why don´t they change the Android wallpaper to one that meets the screens resolution? It´s a no brainer…

I am with you. It seems that all of the news on this site for the past few months is nothing but stuff I would never buy. All of these touchscreen MIDs are DOA with me. Maybe we need a separate site run by chippy that only reports on MID’s and UMPCS with tactile keyboards. I think the majority here feel touchscreens are a non-starter. I sure wish EKing would bring the i1 to the USA. It’s the only unit currently available (but not) that I would purchase.
