Looks like it’s hard for most huge companies to do anything these days that hasn’t already achieved band-wagon status. I mean, what do we expect… that these companies will actually take a risk one of these days? Yeah, right.

We’ve got our hands on Google’s Chrome OS test hardware, the CR-48 (you can apply for one yourself at http://www.google.com/chromeos/pilot-program.html). This netbook won’t ever be released to the public and is purely for testing Chrome OS, but it can give us a good idea of what to expect from future Chrome OS devices. Namely, a huge battery, 3G built-in, a somewhat altered keyboard from what you might be used to [...]

We gave you a heads up a while back that we’d be getting our hands on one of Onkyo’s three capacitive Windows 7 Slates, and it’s finally here. Onkyo is a name that’s more commonly associated with audio equipment than computers in the US, but they’ve delivered a surprisingly sturdy Slate that’s been made available here in the US thanks to Dynamism. .NET, Adobe AIR (Flex, action script), C++ and C are already supported as development platforms for Intel’s AppUp and we’ve already seen people porting their existing air apps over. I’m sure that we’re going to see similar activity, along with fresh development work following the new announcement that a Java SDK has now been added to AppUp. That should please the 9 million Java developers! [ref] Remember, AppUp is the [...]

There are Tablet PCs and there are tablet PCs and one’s that are getting the most traction today aren’t the ones that were in the market first. Microsoft’s Tablet PC ecosystem has been around for years but was focused at pen input, productivity and built on an extended (not a cut-down) desktop operating system. The tablets that are getting the attention today are lightweight, finger-focused for consumers and include fun [...]

As for Chrome OS, I’m sure it’s not waht mobility users neet. At least in 2011. Let’s start with that…
