Zumobi – Snack Surfing on Smartphones

I think I just got sucked in by this promo video. I like the look of it and can see how it might work with some sort of digg/techmeme-type algorithm driving it. Take a look yourself…

Zumobi is a Microsoft spinoff and they’re trying to promote a new way to surf. It looks totally unproductive but a lot of fun. Imagine if you could go into themed tiled areas or favorites areas or popular meme areas. I guess that images could be pulled out of RSS feeds to make tiles too. Could be a lot of fun browsing via images. The system looks like it trickle feeds to a local cache so the carriers will like it too!

More info at Zumobi where you can also join a beta program (Looks like US residents only…again) and download an SDK.

Via, Windowsfordevices.

i suspect it could indeed be very productive, if one can group related tasks/apps into nearby tiles.

that way you can zoom onto one tile group and work fully from there, then jump over to another one and stay there for a while…

but hard to tell until one try it out oneself.

hmm, as i think about it, i suspect i heard about this a year or so ago as a concept…
