IMG_6927If you click through to the large version of that image you’ll see a big list of all the MIDs that are here at IDF. I haven’t seen all of them yet but in the center of the entrance hall, most of them are displayed. I had a bit of hands on but there’s so much going on here right now it’s difficult to get into any detail.

The U2010 is lighter than expected but oh so sweet. Running Vista unfortunately. The Pink WiBrain is a shocker, the Benq really does have a lovely UI (the best i’ve seen yet on a MID) and the Compal/Gigabyte/Aigo is for me, still the most usable form factor.

The others should arrive later today so I’ll be keeping a look out for them and will probably see them in the event that starts at 1800 here.

Later today there should be a video up that I made with Intel about an hour ago where go through some of the MID devices. It’s being edited right now but i’ll send a link over Friendfeed as soon as I have it.

Nice, looking forward to the video. It’s a shame about the Fujitsu 2010/2020 if they could have found a way to cram a 7″ screen on it, it would be really nice. The unit itself is 8.5″ diagonally across, so it may have been possible although the hinge would have to be super compact. What is the difference between the 2010, and 2020 anyway?

Hey! Wot’s going on? no LG XNote B831 is listed on the main listing.

Is LG really a no show at IDF?

  3. Addic says:

Hmmm! is the LG XNote B831 not classed as a MID as it runs Windows XP?

  4. Dukeswharf says:

Correct. MID, as defined by Intel, are Linux based OS devices.

  5. ssagg says:

    The Oqo is there

  6. ssagg says:

    Sorry I ment the Wibrain

  7. kyuss says:

the LG is actually a real UMPC (i think it’s even going to come with Vista like the D4) that has almost the size of a MID, which is quite nice…

anyway…i am looking forward to hear something about the digifriends MID…they have some interesting extensions (the keyboard, speakers etc.)…interesting device with interesting concept…

    Not all!Gigabyte mising :)

  9. ToG says:

Wibrain i1 is great (not in pink) but the LG XNote B831 is my favorite, cant wait for more infos about that.OQO still way too expensive I guess.

  10. ssagg says:

Did you spot the Archos Lounge? It seems to be way smaller than a Oqo (without a keyboard of course)

  11. ssagg says:

Sorry it is just a player, not a Mid

  12. turn.self.off says:

sadly i missed the live session, and its not recorded so i cant tell if you got any time with the digifriend. but as its not appearing in the gallery (that i can find at least) im guessing you didnt.

  13. chippy says:

Ive got a nice video of the Digifriends coming soon!

I look at that list of MIDs and what’s most disappointing is there is nothing with 2GB of RAM, which sucks for Vista. Also I note there are no 120GB 1.8″ Hard Drives, which is a shame because that should always be an option. Silly to own an Archos media player and a MID. IMHO I would like to see beefier units that could take 2.5″ hard drives and come with at least 250GB and have the option of 500GB.
