Samsung Q1-EX Video Demo from ‘How To Be Mobile’

Smaller than I thought it would be and looking well designed (as always with Samsung devices) it’s the Samsung Q1-EX being reviewed by VIA’s ‘How To Be Mobile’ crew.

LaptopMag reviewed this recently and weren’t too impressed that the split mini thumboard was missing but as I said before, I think this one is targeted at a specific industry segment where it will fit perfectly with dedicated software. It may not be the perfect consumer ultra mobile PC but I’m eager to test it out with my ‘business’ hat on and see how the VIA Nano and VX800 chipset perform.

would have been nice if they kept everything the same in the Q1U but updated it with Atom, that way it would still have LONG battery life.

  3. Tomus says:

Device is quite interesting, but the presenter spoils the fun unfortunately.
Chippy looks like a real pro compared to this guy.

Would love to see some more detailed review.

Samsung has cancel the mouse and direction key as well as mini keyboard in Q1-ex, which was a regretful thing!

    It is an error.

Q1 ultra its mouse and direction key are especially important! I am using Q1 ultra to fast browse the images in the outdoors, with through its mouse and direction key as well as mini keyboard (such as the “Esc key”, “Space bar”, “Enter key” etc).

The touch-screen is not better efficiency that than the use of those mouse and direction key as well as mini keyboard. I was not to talks many text of input as its mini-keyboard.

    I will never buy Q1-ex.

Samsung has the best UMPC’s going in my book. As Timon said, I’d be hard pressed without my thumb-board entry so the Q1UP is the right fit for me.

The Q1EX has a nice pricepoint however and with Samsung quality if you like the build I’m sure is a great UMPC.

Yes, Q1 ultra P01 its processor is a Core Solo U1500 and a better performance.

But I hope that the future Q1 ultra has a Core 2 Duo SU9600 or SU9300 processor and the mouse and direction key as well as mini keyboard should keep.

The playback of many large images has needed a Core 2 Duo SU9600 or SU9300 processor. Nowadays, the digital cameras were 10M or 20M pixels, and 30M pixels will be coming soon.

Also, I hope that the future Q1 has a new accessional function:
It should also be capable to act as a real mini monitor (7-inch and 720p support, 1280×800 or 1280×760), with HDMI input port (the computing part running can be stop). it can be connected to camera HDMI output port, and its inside batteries will support the outdoor application of the portable monitor.

I think the camera on the back was a mistake, regular webcam set up would be better.
