image For the third time this year, Intel are putting faith in my blogging capabilities. This time we’re off to Taipei, Taiwan to cover the very big and very exciting Computex trade fair. Over 1,700 exhibitors will be manning 4600 booths from June 2nd to June 6th in what is billed as “the Largest show in Asia inch and “world’s leading ICT event. inch I’ll be arriving (as a one-man team for this project) on the 1st and will spend 5 days covering as much as I can with a focus on the Mobile Internet efforts of Intel. Moorestown, Menlow, Moblin, MIDs and Much Much More!

Check out some of the key exhibitors. This is taken from the Computex website.

Intel, MSI, ASUS, Microsoft, Acer, AMD, GIGABYTE, Transcend, A-DATA, Phihong, Shuttle, MiTAC, SuperTalent, Apacer, Edimax, CLEVO, Chicony, ECS, BIOSTAR, RITEK, CMC, KINGMAX, Team, PQI, JEAN, ATEN, LevelOne, PROMISE, Alpha, Micronet, VIA, ALBATRON, IEI, ACARD, Novell, CHILIN, DigiLife, Acrox, ArcSoft, GoodWay, AVISION, DataFab, AIPTEK, CTX, Linpus, AMD, Analog Devices Inc., Akasa, ARCTIC COOLING, Broadcom Corporation, CODEGEN GROUP, EVOC, Hasee, Hitachi, Intel, Kingston Technology, Marvell, Microsoft, S3 Graphics, SUPERMICRO, Sanyo Denki, SanDisk, SMK, Thermalright, Vishay, Zalman, ZOTAC, Tsinghua Tongfang, MALATA, HUAWEI

Clearly there’s going to be a lot more to cover than this and the chances are that I won’t be able to catch everything that’s going on but I’ve got support! Not only from Intel but from my Meet Mobility buddies who will also be in Computex. JKK from JKKMobile and Sascha from Netbooknews.com. I’ll also be meeting the blogger Frank Grubner of Somewhat Frank who is also out in Taipei courtesy of Intel. There’s going to be a ton of other bloggers there too so I’m sure I have a good chance of keeping up with the main news items.

My latest ‘tweet’ always shows at the top of the page. As we go through this week I’ll be posting about the kit I’m taking to Taiwan and any hot news items that come up in MID land. Stay with me.

Sounds like your plate is full!
I’ll look forward to see what JKK comes up with, his videos on dismantling tiny gadgets are a wonder to watch!

  2. Pixel QI fan in waiting says:

Go to Pixel Qi web site, see the email address, and try to get a private showing of the screen that they will have at the show (private meetings set up via that email address). Jkk and you should get demo versions to try to MOD into some devices for before and after battery life testing to see if indeed the screens do give a 5 fold increase in battery life. Note that the web site now has photos of the screen stuffed into an Acer AspireOne.

  3. Chippy says:

A five-fold increase in battery life is just not possible. I think you’re confusing your maths.

A pixel QI screen might take 1/5th the power of a normal screen but even if it takes zero power, it’s only going to improve battey life by about 20% on the average netbook and up to 50% on ARM-based devices.

  4. Xavier says:

Look forward to your coverage…about 1,000 booths per day- you can do it!

  5. Chippy says:

1000 per day. Holy crap that puts it into perspective!
