jkOnTheRun’s James Kendrick goes hands on with the Viliv X70 UMPC

viliv_x70 After all of the coverage that the Viliv S5 [Portal page] has seen lately, it is about time that its bigger brother, the Viliv X70, gets a little bit of face time. James Kendrick from jkOnTheRun has a nice video showing off the brand new Viliv X70. The X70 as I mentioned is a Viliv ultra mobile PC that is larger than the Viliv S5. The X70 has a 7 inch screen as compared to the S5’s 4.8 inch screen. While the sizes are different, the internals are very similar, with both devices running Atom. The X70 that James is checking out has an SSD as well as 3G connectivity. The X70 has many of the same connectors as the S5 as well including the host port that allows it to be used as a USB HDD while plugged into a different computer.

The X70 also comes with a great looking case that is themed like the one designed for the S5 (sharp red inside). There is a physical connector built into the back of the X70 that locks it into the case from the back. The cool thing about the case is that in addition to protecting the X70, it can also fold back and lock into a stand position.

The X70 looks quite nice and it made me realize how big this device could be when James said that it reminds him of “…a thinner, lighter, svelte Samsung Q1 inch. The return of the UMPC? What do you think?

That´s really a nice device! I hope it wont be much more expensive than the S5. If they chose a price above 700$ it can´t be too popular.
I think the battery time will be shorter than the S5´s battery.

Do you know sth. about they start deliver it?

When will viliv release the S7 to be explored by our grubby hands! Though the X70 is a very svelte looking device, I think the S7 will most likely be viliv’s ace in the hole.

That’s what I was waiting for! A great one! I like the 7inch screen much more that the 5inch. The only questions remained is the price tag.
I wish they sell it for less than 1000$. With a less than 1k price tag it will be surely a hard one to bit for other devices in the class due to the good performance reviews that S5 received. I believe with such a device you can have a Kindle, netbook, potable media player and a slate, all in one device.
I can’t wait to see a video that has a title like: S7 vs X70
S7 looks to be great, especially with that nice keyboard. But it seems that the virtual keyboard in X70 works just fine.
Anyway I believe that the game is becoming much more interesting that last months.

I don’t like it,because it’s more thick and heavy than s5, it’s not the smae thing as the photos showed in AD.
