Eee Pad Transformer in the Workplace, Tackling Printing and Connectivity — End of Week One

Posted on 17 August 2011

As you may be aware Jerry and I are trying to get by in the Enterprise space with only our tablets and no Windows based laptops. Jerry’s using the Acer Iconia Tab and I am using my Asus Eeepad transformer with keyboard dock. Jerry has a few posts up on his experience so far. Week one using the Eeepad transformer as my only business “personal computer” was pretty successful. I had a pretty varied week which included working from home, working on the road at a conference and during site visits and of […]

Netbook Navigator Nav7 UMPC Ships Soon, With Rear-Mounted Mouse Pad!

Posted on 17 August 2011

I’ve had some contact with Netbook Navigator about their Nav7 Tablet. When it starts shipping next month it’s going take the 7 inch ultra mobile PC market out of a long , dry spell. Netbook Navigator Nav 7 Specifications, Links, Images, Forum If you’re looking for a consumer tablet solution, you’ll probably want to look away right now because I won’t be writing about always-on battery life, application stores, maps, games, user interface candy and gyroscopes, no I’ll be talking about a mouse pointer and Windows 7. OK, that shook […]

Camping Mobility

Posted on 17 August 2011

I honestly don’t know why we like our family camping trips. Our garden is bigger than the average local camping pitch area, our car is so small that the rest of the family has to take the train and there’s usually a three week ‘window’ in which we feverishly check weather and try and juggle our work schedules to suit any sign of extended sun. Still, despite that, we seem to like it. We’re of for a three day local camp with our 10-yr old daughter and her friend and […]

There IS Innovation in the Tablet Market; Even if There Wasn’t, Grid is Not the Answer

Posted on 17 August 2011

Yesterday the company behind the infamous Joojoo, Fusion Garage, revealed itself as the real name behind the fake company TabCo which had been teasing the tech world for the last few weeks about an upcoming tablet. During the announcement webcast, Fusion Garage did indeed reveal a new tablet which turned out to be the Grid 10 device that we saw pass through the FCC a few weeks back (though at the time we didn’t know it had anything to do with TabCo). You can find full specs, links, photos, and […]

Viewpad 10pro Win 7 Tablet Shipping. Bluestacks Android Questions to be Answered Soon

Posted on 16 August 2011

Not only is the Viewpad 10pro one of the first Oaktrail-based (Intel Atom Z670) tablets to ship, it’s also the first with Bluestacks on it. Bluestacks is an ‘Android player’ that simulates an Android environment in order to run Android programs. Like Myriad Dalvic Turbo, it’s a system with a lot of unanswered questions. Sideloading, GPS, network usage, power, speed. But first, let’s talk about the Viewpad 10pro. It was spotted as available in the USA by Liliputing yesterday and checks on the European side of the pond indicate that […]

Changing Ecosystems From iOS to Android (and how iOS 5 could tempt me back)

Posted on 15 August 2011

Up until recently, I had not strayed far from the iPhone family. I have owned a few iterations of the iPhone, and have seen its evolution in hardware along with the massive growth of the app store. And for the most part, the iPhone has fulfilled my needs, and indeed surprised me with functions that I didn’t realise I could do with.
