A warning for those of you who have had your eye on the UX31A Zenbook Prime and UX32VD with 1080p IPS display, early reports indicate that there may be some light-bleed issues on the display. You may want to hold off on your purchase until this is sorted out.

How could I resist that title? A bit of laughter is in the air as I hear the official news that the ASUS UX32VD is not coming to the UK. Is it a model naming issue or perhaps just a big mistake?

The ASUS UX32VD is #2 device on the site here, a device that is getting a huge amount of coverage and already building a big community, often a huge advantage for a buyer. The UX32VD combines a lower-cost Ultrabook chassis and hard drive with a full HD screen and a discreet graphics card for an interesting price. It’s a relatively unique device amongst Ultrabooks and yet ASUS UK tell us they have decided to put it on the back burner for this quarter. Feel free to drop your UK thoughts below – we’ll highlight it to ASUS as a quasi-petition.

The much anticipated UX31A and UX32VD Ultrabooks from Asus are finally available from Amazon US and . The UX31A, which starts at a very reasonable price, is being marketed by Asus as the ‘Zenbook Prime’ which we’ve been hearing about over the last few months. According to Asus, a Zenbook achieves the ‘Prime’ denotation as long as it has the 1080p IPS display, SSD, and a backlit keyboard. The UX32VD is thus being marketed simply as a Zenbook because it lacks the SSD.

Computex is over and we’ve been taking a look to see what Ultrabooks created the most buzz on Ultrabooknews. ASUS takes both top device and top team awards!

The latest top-10 device in our database (by views, 7 day moving average) always shows the movers and shakers (front page, right hand column) but today it’s the ASUS UX32VD taking the top spot, knocking the SSD-loaded ASUS UX31A from the perch. I’ve dived into the stats and it’s winning by a large margin. ASUS have 4 devices in the top 10 too. Guess who’s winning in the manufacturers list?

Two versions of the ASUS UX32VD have hit retail channels in Europe. The ASUS Zenbook UX32VD-R4002V and R3001VV offer exactly the same 500/24GB drive, GeForce GT620M and 4GB RAM with either Core i5 or Core i7 Ivy Bridge platforms. Starting price 999€ including local taxes – about $1054

We’re gradually getting more and more information on the ASUS S46 and S56 Ultrabooks and it’s looking like they will be the budget offering this back-to-school season. DVD is included along with a range of ports, a mainstream screen and that might even be a replaceable cylindrical cell battery pack on the back there. Starting price - a new record low of $599. Is that the sound of AMD’s ultrathins being crushed?

The range goes up from $599 but it sounds like the 15” model will start at $799
