Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Launched. Details and Specifications.

The X1 is probably the most referenced laptop by commenters on Ultrabook News so I’m sure many of you will be excited to know that it’s being updated and will be offered, alongside the original X1, as the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon. This isn’t just an Ivy Bridge CPU/GPU update, it’s a full re-work that brings it down to under 3lbs in weight. That’s about 1.35 KG, for a 14” Ultrabook.

Lenovo U300e – Another Hybrid HDD Hits the Ultrabook Market

There are rumors and indicators that Ultrabooks are moving more towards hybrid HDDs and the Lenovo U300e is another indicator in that area. The nasty side effect is that the SSD model, the U300s now only seems to be available with a Core i7 and a $1499 price.

The U300e is launching with a 500Gb hard drive, Core i5 and 4GB RAM – No change from the original U300s that we saw apart from the storage. The price comes in at $1199 at the Lenovo US store though which is shockingly high considering the Samsung Series 5 13.3 is $869 at Amazon.com right now.

Lenovo Yoga–Convertible Ultrabook Hands-On

Lenovo Yoga (5)

Although I missed the first showing of the Lenovo Yoga Ultrabook at CES today I bumped into it at a press event this evening. It’s an efficient implementation of an Ultrabook that converts into a tablet and with a 1600×900 IPS screen, it looked great. Pricing could be on the high-side of course but if Lenovo do managed to bring this to market with Windows 8 and Ivy Bridge in Q3/Q4 2012 it will be one amazingly unique Ultrabook. Lenovo think they can reach 7 hours of true battery life.

Lenovo U310 U410 (3)

At the CES Unveiled event in Las Vegas this evening, Lenovo was showing off two new Ultrabook, official Ultrabook, notebooks. The U310 and U410 are said to more mainstream 13” and 14” Ultrabooks which I take to mean ‘cheaper with more storage.’ I hope this doesn’t mean the start of the end of SSD-based Ultrabooks!
