I haven’t had the chance to take a close look at the Toshiba Kirabook before so when I saw it on the Microsoft booth at CeBIT this week I took the chance to have a closer look. Wow, it’s a smart looking bit of kit.

Toshiba Kirabook was the first Ultrabook with a display resolution higher than full HD, coming with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution and it has now been upgraded with Intel’s 4th generation CPU, bringing improved battery life and graphics to compete with the current wave of ultra high res Ultrabooks.

Looking not unlike the Apple MacBook Air, the new Toshiba Kirabook is a high-end offering in the Ultrabook space. Key features include 2560-by-1440 color-calibrated resolution on a 13.3” display and a magnesium casing that helps keep the weight down to 2.6lb. A starting price of $1599 means you’ll be looking carefully at the other specs before buying. A few of them are quite surprising.
