Revolve. It sounds better than 2730p doesn’t it! The HP Elitebook Revolve is the latest in a long history of HP TabletPCs but with its new name and an Ultrabook-focused design it looks like HP want to make this, like Lenovo are doing with their Thinkpad Twist, a product that appeals to pro-sumers and business customers alike. GottaBeMobile have had hands-on with the new twist-screen convertible which is currently planned for the end of Q1 2013
I had the chance to check out the Toshiba U920T / U925T slider Ultrabook at IDF last week in San Francisco and put a quick video together showing the slider mechanism, ports and screen which, is quite the glossy experience as you’ll see. There’s also an NFC demo – the U920T will be the first Ultrabook with NFC.
Intel have just presented details of a Wireless Charging solution for Ultrabooks at IDF Beijing. They see a big potential market and look to have made good progress on a hard/soft solution that takes into account power considerations and regulatory requirements. Patents have been applied for!
I’m at the Mobile World Congress in Spain this week and although I’ve been covering a lot of phone and tablet news (over at Carrypad.com) I’ve also been keeping an eye open for Ultrabook news. I didn’t have to look far because when Intel talks about one silicon product, it’s now inextricably linked with the others via the ‘Compute Continuum’ which isn’t just a keynote dream any more, it’s a real project to mesh devices from various parts of Intel’s product range.
