The Dell Latitude 6430U is here and under my fingers. 1366×768 and a 36Wh battery is a shocking thing to be seeing on a new Ultrabook in 2013 but wait because it turns out that if you don’t like that you can change it, and that’s one of the key features of this device. It’s aimed at business users and because of that Dell is offering a huge range of configuration options and in among the variants is an Ultrabook I really should buy; Maybe you too.

If you’ve pre-ordered the business-focused Dell Latitude 6430u, you could soon have it in your hands as Dell have announced that shipping has started. One thing you won’t be able to enjoy though is the WiGig feature because the dock is not ready yet. That’s quite the disappointment as the 6430u is the first ever laptop to offer tri-band wireless. There’s another gotcha too – the unit may not actually ship with WiGig at all. It looks like the Dell Latitude 6430u is only ‘upgradeable’ to WiGig.

Dell 6430u Ultrabook to be first with WiGig


The Dell 6430U now ready to go, and Dell have just revealed something very interesting and unique. Not only is this a MIL-STD 810G Ultrabook but it’s going to be the first with WiGig – a standard that not only gives you wireless LAN but also transports video and audio to WiGig  docking stations. Now that’s what we like to see, and earlier than expected!

Dell Latitude 6430u Launches for Business Users


Like HP with their Elitebook Folio 9470M, Toshiba with their Z930, Lenovo with their X1 Carbon, Dell are launching a business-focused Ultrabook. The Dell Latitude 6430u was leaked back in May but formal launch was announced by Dell this week.

Clearly they were waiting for Windows 8 but note that this isn’t a touchscreen Ultrabook, despite the pretty touch-led Metro user interface being shown above.

Dell Readying Latitude 6430u Business-Ultrabook, May Come in Two Sizes


There doesn’t appear to be any official word yet, but Tweakers.net (translated) appears to have gotten their hands on info and photos of a forthcoming business-Ultrabook from Dell, the Latitude 6430u, which will have a 14″ screen, removable battery, changeable RAM, and more. This isn’t a huge surprise given the success that Dell has reported with the XPS 13 Ultrabook.
