Ultrabook and Touch Hangout at 2100 CET

Lenovo Thinkpad Twist (36)P1120938Acer Iconia W510 _57_

It’s 1838 as I post this and I want to remind you all that I’m hosting a live Google Hangout at 2100 where I’ll be spending some time going over sildenafil the Lenovo Twist, Toshiba U940 and Acer W510 (CloverTrail) Windows 8 devices. If everything goes well we’ll have an open Q&A session. The session will stream live and I’ll try and embed the video here. For more information about the session you can check out the Hangout Event invite here on Google Plus.

Ultrabook and Touch Hangout Video

Lenovo Thinkpad Twist (36)  The Live video is over but it’s embedded below. I must say that the session didn’t go as planned. At some point the URL got changed and people couldn’t get into the Hangout. Maybe we’ll try again soon but it was certainly not as good as the Ustream sessions we’ve run where people like to chat and don’t need to put their face up on video. I’ll look into restoring the original method.

Electrified – With David Blaine and an Ultrabook?

I’m disappointed. Intel teases an Ultrabook experience called ‘always on’ and I’m getting excited that it’s a challenge to see how much battery life one can get out of an Ultrabook. It turns out it’s a stunt by David Blaine.

blaine

Worse still, it’s in New York so I can’t even go and see it.

I suspect the ‘3 Days, 3 Nights’  and ‘One Million Volts’ theme means he’ll be inside a cage. If we’re lucky he’ll make an Ultrabook last that long!

Stimulating Developers with the Ultrabook Platform

P1110045

I was invited by Intel to meet some developers yesterday. The Intel Ultrabook developers meet-up in Munich was casual and informative. We all enjoyed hands-on with some of the latest Ultrabooks but the conversation about why Ultrabooks could be interesting for developers was, for me, more interesting.

I’m covering Ultrabook Madness at CES this week.

080120121613

I’m focusing on Ultrabooks this week at CES though if I’m lucky I’ll have time to take a look at some netbooks and tablets. It’s more hectic than ever here and press day has been brutal so far. Events go on well into the evening tonight and then I’ll be up at 5am to head over to an Intel booth preview where I hope to get a good overview of their latest mobile products.

Give me a few days on the floor and by Wednesday I’ll have a good idea of where things are heading although the Ultrabook marketing has been so strong today that it’s clear that’s where Intel are heading.

P1010618Ultra mobile fans need to keep focus on the tablet market for any sub 1lb product news but i’m of the opinion right now that the tablet market needs something other than a hardware boost. It’s time for the software on Android to come of age and get serious and I hope Ice Cream Sandwich will give us that. For me, there won’t be any new products in my stable until I see proof that ISVs are investing. Gaming appears to be moving along well but there’s a lot of work to be done in the productivity area.

As I mentioned above I’m focusing on Ultrabooks at CES so if you’re interested in the new Samsung Series 9, the new Acer Aspire S5, the Lenovo U310 and U410 and other new devices, check out the action at Ultrabooknews.com

If I find any interesting ultra mobile PC solutions i’ll be posting the information here.

CES-2012Thanks to support from Intel I’ll be flying out to the Consumer Electronics Show which starts for us on the 8th Jan. Intel and their customers will have a huge Ultrabook-focused presence and we’re extremely pleased to be part of it.

P1000800

Update: Session is finished now. A report will go up soon. is now available.

See you later. In the meantime, here’s a teaser and a bit of World of Warcraft on the UX21…
