The winner of the Perceptual Computing competition has just been announced by Intel
The Ultimate Coder Challenge put seven teams together and challenged them to make showcase applications for a Lenovo Yoga 13 Ultrabook and the Creative sensor hardware, in seven weeks. We watched with amazement at how much the teams learnt, wrote, developed and optimised their apps. We found hardware limitations, software limitations and problems with gestures themselves but that’s exactly what we needed. The judges, teams and Intel have put hundreds of hours effort into finding out what works and what doesn’t. It will all help the development of perceptual computing, ‘Percie’ as some are calling it now, solutions for Ultrabooks, AIO and other screens in the future.
The winner was a team that took puppetry and put into other peoples hands…
The Yoga 13 is a truly exiting form factor and a well-made device. It’s a good Ultrabook and yet there are serious issues to be considered. The Yoga 13 is missing a few features and fails on a few aspects related to the convertible form-factor and convergence. Read on for a full review of the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13.

Now that Windows 8 has hit the market, Ultrabook manufacturers want to get their devices into the spotlight. Lenovo recently launched some new ads to show off the IdeaPad Yoga 13 Ultrabook convertible. The Pursuit is a 3 minute and 30 second short action film in the style of The Matrix and James Bond. While the video might not pay off as a film, it certainly puts the IdeaPad Yoga 13 front and center.
With the ThinkPad Twist and IdeaPad Yoga, Lenovo now has Ultrabook convertible options for its business and consumer laptop segments. The ThinkPad Twist, with starting price of $799, is actually one of the cheapest Ultrabook convertibles on the market. Surprisingly the consumer-positioned IdeaPad Yoga 13 is actually more expensive, starting at $999 — though it does come with a better display. The ThinkPad Twist is now available while the IdeaPad Yoga 13 is still a few weeks off.
